The Wallpaper Series

The Wallpaper Series

This is my latest collection of work, The Wallpaper Series. They were inspired by looking at the work of Stanley Bird, an artist based in Glasgow who uses wallpapers as backgrounds for his paintings of animals.

The concept behind the series is that when you have wallpaper in a room – you get used to it… it fades and recedes until you don’t notice it anymore. I believe if we don’t start looking after our landscape and wildlife then a little like wallpaper it will fade and recede until all of a sudden we realise its almost disappeared.

2016 paintings

For these paintings I have reverted back to working on black paper. They are all 50 x 70cms. they are being shown for the first time at my open studio event for Oxfordshire Artweeks

2015 paintings

After a visit to the V and A I was inspired to draw baroque style patterns in the back ground of my images. All work was first shown at our Open Studios Exhibition for Oxfordshire Artweeks 2015 and then travelled to The Stables Gallery, for the Wylye Valley Art Trail 2015. Catch them while you can…..
