Oxford Art Society Open Exhibition 2015

Once again I have had work selected for The Oxford Art Society Open Exhibition – a yearly showcase of work from artists living within a 30 mile radius of Oxford. On Friday 11th September Mr PW and I attended the opening and preview of the exhibition, which was a really lovely evening trying to match artists to their work……

At the end of July I found out that two of my wallpaper series have been selected for The Shoosmiths Prize 2015. The Shoosmiths prize is an innovative competition aimed at providing opportunities for artists to reach wide and diverse audiences through exhibiting at Milton Keynes University Hospital. The work is on show at Milton Keynes University Hospital – if you are in the area do go along and have a look.

The work selected is

And so the exhibition rolls on!! this weekend sees us take down our Open Studios show and head off to the Wylye Valley (Bishopstrowe outside of Warminster to be exact) to take part in the renowned Wylye Valley Art Trail (WVAT).  The WVAT is a biannual 9 day festival of Art and Craft in and around the Wylye Valley, South Wiltshire.  Of all the trails and open studios I take part in it, it really is my favourite. If you can make it, it would be lovely to see you.

Time flies when you’re having fun!

Wow – its already April ….. it seems a long time since I’ve uploaded anything but rest assured I have been busy! The winter months for me are the ones in which I draw the curtains, light the fire and paint my little heart out…. winter 2014  has been no exception. My work constantly evolves…. I was massively inspired in January to find an artist on Instagram called Stanley Bird (@stanleybirdart …check him out he’s brilliant) who is an animal painter like me, but the backgrounds of his pieces incorporate painted wallpaper. I have been looking for a way to move my work on and so decided to try it and  –  and GOD I’M IN LOVE!!

this was the first one that I finished and I’m rather pleased!

Hibernating and painting

Painting my little heart out. I was given a new panoramic sketchbook for my birthday from a colleague and really enjoyed creating a series of panoramic landscapes of local views. They really are beautiful and worth checking out……Panoramic landscape of Middle Hill
